@CommodoreBlog Also served as an AM radio, although you couldn’t pick the channel
@CommodoreBlog @vesajuvonen I feel like they spawned at least 2-3 Hollywood movie scripts. 🎬🛸
@CommodoreBlog I had a watch that did this. I felt like a god! Probably just the lights 🤩
@CommodoreBlog Yes! My old Nextel walkie talkie phones... My computer speakers alerted me before the phone.
@CommodoreBlog Why doesn’t that happen anymore with new ones?
@CommodoreBlog In Grand Theft Auto III, the car radio would make this buzzing noise just before your character's cell phone rang. It tricked me into thinking my real life cell phone was about to ring every time.
@CommodoreBlog Dukka dukka dukka dukk whirrrr Ring ring
@CommodoreBlog Facts. Loved it. Kinda weird if you think about it. The phone ringing notifys you someone is calling, so you can know before hand whose calling & to decide to pick up or not. But when those got to that weird buzz tapping. "Warning" you of a call, it was unnecessarily awesome.
@CommodoreBlog Twitter suggested this to me. I have the same speakers. But Twitter shouldn't have had any way to know that. They're watching me... 😒
@CommodoreBlog That was only one Nokia 3310 charging cycle ago.
@CommodoreBlog When I worked for a city in the 90's the police dispatch signal was so powerful I had a sound card just start picking up the signal once.
@CommodoreBlog Mine would also pick up CB radio from passing trucks! Nothing quite like freaking out from a random voice coming from your speakers at 11PM.
@CommodoreBlog this one still does, on a daily basis...
@CommodoreBlog It's like hearing the dreamcast laser
@CommodoreBlog The sounds also seemed to change depending on whether it was 2G/3G/4G or GSM/CDMA!
@CommodoreBlog Well... that escalated quickly! LOL
@CommodoreBlog @bethbourdon I just had a flashback to when these would occasionally pick up radio signals and I’d hear voices come out, scared the shit out of me!
@CommodoreBlog My old Commodore speakers used to pick up taxi transmissions.
@CommodoreBlog As a kid I was extremely afraid of being hacked and these things picking up radio threw me into a panic everytime
@CommodoreBlog What’s going on round the back..?
@CommodoreBlog Text messages with graphics were the worst Sounded like a spectrum unpacking the title intro 🤓
@CommodoreBlog Yes it could.. probably get about 3 seconds of interference patterns before the phone rang..
@CommodoreBlog Lol .. yeah with Nokia 3310.. that was fantastic 🤣
