@CommodoreBlog Gravis UltraSound for sure! Best soundcard ever.
@CommodoreBlog General MIDI attached to a Korg
@CommodoreBlog Did anyone ever choose General Midi? That would be a MIDI device connected to a serial port?
@CommodoreBlog When you saw this on your screen . . . you know a priceless moment of immersion in a quality digital game was ahead. Games coded in C & ASM by coders who knew what they were doing. Not some random virtual machine memory sucking auto-spit code.
@CommodoreBlog No SoundBlaster Pro, butAWS32 would do fine
@CommodoreBlog Did anyone ever actually know anyone with a Gravis Ultrasound? I swear I never have.
@CommodoreBlog I hope you remember the right IO address, IRQ, and DMA channel.
@CommodoreBlog My 1st sound card was a Sound Blaster. It came in kit that also had a 2X CD-ROM and 2 speakers. I bought it at Babbage's and added it to my 486DX33 that I had built.
@CommodoreBlog no GUS, no demo :)
@CommodoreBlog My Dad used to let me connect the pc to his Roland E-70 so yea usually General midi.
@CommodoreBlog If it's not a Scund Blaster, I don't wanna know about it.
@CommodoreBlog Ultrasound. If you had one, you'd know.
@CommodoreBlog That was always a good one. I remember always wondering how good a Gravis ultrasound sounded.
@CommodoreBlog General MIDI?! Where is MT-32?
@CommodoreBlog I used to choose Adlib for the bants
@CommodoreBlog Ooooooh. I remember. And I was the poor kid that had none 😭😭😭
@CommodoreBlog Is it fair to say that Sound Blaster was the most widely supported sound card?
Ah. The good ole days. I remember staring at awe at how realistic VGA graphics looked on my friends computer... I was stuck on CGA at the time. Here's the kicker that us old-timers will remember: The Commodore Amiga came with great graphics and sound built in (as well as a multitasking-friendly architecture) and was dismissed because "business doesn't need these things..."
@CommodoreBlog awe32 I had one of those beasts on a 5.1 speaker system man it was beautiful sound
@CommodoreBlog Coming to this from an Amiga seemed like such a backwards step 😁
@CommodoreBlog Creative Labs SoundBlaster 16
@CommodoreBlog Felt like a king always choosing Soundblaster after years of pc speaker. Port 220, IRQ 5 , DM1. And if I was feeling adventurous, the ide cd-rom drive on D: as well. Memmaker, EMS/XMS, the things we used to do, mouse divers :p
@CommodoreBlog I had an adlib. My Computer was a Commodore PCIII 286.
