Today we toured the Juvenile Temporary Detention Center with the Cook County Public Defender and State Rep. Olickal. After my time visiting Hamburg and seeing the strides they’ve made in rehabilitative justice, I’m dedicated to making sure that our system works to do this.

In Philly, most of those who fail to appear are not defendants. They're cops, civilian witnesses & private lawyers. Between 2010 & 2020, defendants missed court date in only 19% of cases, cops failed to appear in 31% of cases where they were subpoenaed. inquirer.com/opinion/commen…

Two weekends ago, we got to join @BlackrootsChi @CookCoDefender @NorthwesternU in Chicago to present the "Reimagining Public Safety" report to the community. The report includes findings & recommendations from research on Black Chicagoans’ sense of safety and how to improve it.
