For many years, I've been developing a new procedural modeling technique that overcomes many of the limitations of my PhD work on Model Synthesis and WFC. It's a completely new approach that uses graph grammars. It doesn't use tiles. I just presented it at SIGGRAPH!
GPU-driven rendering and upscaling can render two channels with 3152x3084 resolution and stable 90 FPS. This is a real-time capture of OpenXR mirroring window output. VR perfectly hides all upscaling artifacts.
I made a CLI tool to help with scaffolding shaders in Unreal: shadeup.dev
It has a number of templates to start from including:
- Compute shaders to render targets
- Material evaluation in compute shaders
- Indirect instancing
