Between 2019-22, rents rose and the steepest increases hit people with the lowest incomes the hardest. Wonder why homelessness increases?Govt rent assistance is necessary as long as housing costs are so much higher than people’s income for a significant amount of all renters.

@The_Suburbanist If you are on the emergency list (single parent or other group of vulnerable ppl) they can usually get you housing within a week. Others may wait a month. Bc they continuously invest resources in the building of high quality public housing, they have the supply necessary.

Santa Clara County, just south of SF, with @DSTNHome, unhoused ppl, providers, private partners show that we can we can permanently house 1000s in tough markets. We know what to do: housing ends homelessness. The problem is housing affordability. So build some housing already.
