I recently gave a short talk at the #CIMT2023 conference in front of 300+ people. Though nervous, I overcame my fears to present to an international audience for the first time. It was so rewarding to engage in meaningful conversations about my research and to hear others’ work.

One critique of this platform that uses bacterial enzymes is that host immune responses will reject it. In my thesis work, I adapt this project in fully immunocompetent mouse models. We've had very promising efficacy results so far!

In our @DASLab_MSKCC paper we demonstrate that T cells can be engineered to release small molecule chemotherapies at the tumor site. We do this using bacterial enzymes. In the current paper, we use immunodeficient mouse models as a human proof of concept.

Congratulations @TJJardinero and our collaborators in the Tan lab for this awesome work! We show how adoptive T cell therapies like CAR T cells can be used to deliver small-molecule drugs to tumors. This is the first manuscript of many to come on this project.

Congratulations to @LeilaPeraro2 on publishing this story in @MolTherapy! We show that CAR T cells generate humoral immune responses in patients and we engineer them to secrete antibody-cleaving enzymes.
