We continue to monitor a tropical wave which has a 70% chance of development. Environmental conditions remain conducive for gradual development of this system during the next several days, and a tropical depression is likely to form late this week or this weekend.

We are monitoring a tropical wave, which has a 70% chance of Cyclone formation over the next 7 days. DDME encourages residents to continue hurricane preparations, as we are still in the active hurricane season.

Tropical storm conditions activities are expected starting from this afternoon. Avoid flood prone areas Stay indoors and prepare for possible outages Suspend all marine activities Finalize all storm preparations
Hurricane Erin will pass East of TCI as a Category 4 hurricane. The Turks and Caicos will experience the effect from the outer bands which will induce heavy rainfall, flood risk and dangerous winds. Plan to suspend all marine activities from this afternoon into early next week
Friday Tip: protect your home Make all necessary repairs before a storm is on the way. Ensure your insurance is up to date and clean up on and around your property
Erin is now a Category 1 Hurricane and will pass East of The Turks and Caicos Islands. Exercise caution and avoid all Marine activities from Saturday evening to Monday morning. See the release for complete overview

Tropical Storm Andrea, the season’s first named storm, formed over the eastern Atlantic with maximum sustained winds of around 40 mph, currently tracking east-northeast,far from the Caribbean region and showing signs of dissipating by Wednesday with no threat to TCI.

A Heat Advisory is in effect for the TCI, temperatures are expected to rise between 88°F to 91°F, with heat indices reaching up to 105°F. Residents and visitors are advised to take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses. All areas, 12 pm to 5 pm Monday, June 9th.
