In an interview with Famitsu, Akihiro Hino revealed that Shellebrity is his all-time favorite Yo-kai. "Initially, Shellebrity was meant to be the mascot of Yo-kai Watch 3, but plans fell through. His backstory was going to be that his mother had been murdered by The Ghoulfather."

In English language versions of Yo-kai Watch 3, Whisper's Inspirit, Slimed, states that Whisper "jacks up on a foe". This was the exact phrase used for Whisper's Inspirit description on the Yo-kai Watch Fandom Wiki, prior to the localization of Yo-kai Watch 3.

The Infinite Tunnel is based off of Kiyotaki Tunnel, located in Kyoto, Japan. Some say that the tunnel's length changes depending on which side of the tunnel you enter from. Legend has it that a woman dressed in all white resides within it, likely the inspiration for Moody Mary.

Ouka, the design drafter for Kuroi Yo-kai Watch designed the calligraphy of "鼓 (Tsuzumi)" in the LEVEL5 VISION 2023 鼓 (TSUZUMI)'s logo. She stated that the logo was intended to look like two people dancing.
