The blame for the existential danger facing our reefs lays squarely with the main culprits fuelling global warming: fossil fuel companies, and the governments who prop up this industry.

@David_Ritter @climatemessages It's typical that at the end of El Nino events parts of the Pacific Ocean engaging shifts in the winds become calm for enough time to reach excessive temperatures. A lack of tropical Cyclones in those regions is an important aspect.
@David_Ritter . @tanya_plibersek you are GUILTY. You need rolling at the next election. The duplicity shown has been awful. A total dereliction of duty. Beginning the role by promising urgent reform and now cowing to fossil fuel interests. Kids, nature deserve so much better.
@David_Ritter And the people who use fossil fuels, because there is no equivalent energy dense substitute.
@David_Ritter the government does not prop it up at all.
@David_Ritter The reef is healthy and temperatures are stable. In addition co2 cannot change the temperature of the oceans. It’s impossible. 99.9% of the Earth’s heat capacity is in the oceans. The atmosphere cannot change ocean temperature. Co2 is innocent.
