BREAKING: Rand Paul just introduced legislation to fund families directly using existing federal education funding.
The funding would follow the child to wherever they received an education That could be a public school, private school, or homeschool option. This would fund students instead of systems.
@DeAngelisCorey OMG, a politician who wants to bless the individual and their families in pursuit to Greater Education.
@DeAngelisCorey Good- Nashville voted on a 34% property tax increase and a lot of that $ is going to the schools- the schools that aren’t opening.
@DeAngelisCorey We are sacrificing in a huge way this year to send our three oldest to private schools that are willing to open without masks and without virtual school garbage. This would help us so much!
@DeAngelisCorey As the parent of a child with special needs, I truly hope this passes and passes quickly. It's painfully obvious now that I'm not a teacher, a therapist, a resource teacher, or any of the other myriad of professionals that my child needs access to to be able to succeed in school.
@DeAngelisCorey Is there anything we can do to help this along? Or do we just have to sit back and watch it get voted down?
@DeAngelisCorey This would be super helpful. We have been home schooling our kids and always pay for everything 100% out of our own pockets on top of all the property taxes and federal taxes we pay.
@DeAngelisCorey @JennyBK74 This will hurt public schools in the same way that defunding the police hurts .Many parents will take their kids from public and then when all of this is done and we are back they will want to come back and the classes will be packed, aides will be nonexistent.
@DeAngelisCorey Of course, no one talks about who influenced him into doing so.
@DeAngelisCorey Howsabout we get the federal government out of education instead?
@DeAngelisCorey Yes! Give parents back the money to find private schools that are open.
@DeAngelisCorey Doesn’t federal spending only account for approximately 10% of per pupil expenditures? Individual states will need to adopt this school choice policy for it to have any significant impact. I like the idea of 50 states having 50 educational experiments
@DeAngelisCorey I liked him in 2016...glad he's doing this!
@DeAngelisCorey Our district had to roll back plan to offer in-school teaching because Illinois tweaked distancing rules at the last second that made physical presence impossible. Teachers union came out against in-person days later. These people don't have the best interests of kids at all.
@DeAngelisCorey @BonginoReport @RandPaul A different idea: FDR's rural electrical initiative was a lifesaver for small-town America. @realDonaldTrump should take those federal $ & wire every rural home in America w/ fiber Internet as state-run public utilities & give us the CHOICE to bypass public schools.
@DeAngelisCorey Every industry has adapted and changed over the years. Education has been more of the same and its not working. Allow parents to decide the best approach to educating their kids. Teachers could form micro-schools, less students, make more and provide the attention kids need.
@DeAngelisCorey @IAmRational2020 We absolutely need to do away with the Federal Department of Education. Education should be under the 10th amendment and restricted to the states and the people of the USA.
@DeAngelisCorey @bethanyshondark It won’t ever happen but it would be amazing if it did. CA is a dumpster fire that our Governor keeps fueling with every new executive order that takes a choice from parents and gives everything to the teachers unions. I homeschool there is I hope left in CA he is a dictator.
@DeAngelisCorey Is this funding going to be based on area? Are low income families receiving less than high income families? If so...no thanks.
@DeAngelisCorey Wonderful move on Senator Paul's part! The House controls the money. Until we get those Democrats out of our House, his bill goes nowhere.
@DeAngelisCorey That’s accountability! If a public school “ups” their game, parents will respond with enrollment. This is supply & demand. And a race to get public schools back on track. Great idea!!
@DeAngelisCorey Excellent! If public schools aren’t “essential” and virtual schools are acceptable, we can upend many things about public school financing and delivery systems.
@DeAngelisCorey Parents should be able to request funds to be allocated to the school of their choice. Not one dollar would or should reach the hands of the State, a Union, Education institution that refuses to open. #FundingFollowsTheStudents
@DeAngelisCorey I actually got to ask him about this this morning on our radio show. This is a good thing!
@DeAngelisCorey @NancyRPearcey I’m all in favor of abolishing public education entirely. But this is a problem as well. The moment we “accept” our own funds back from government hands, we become beholden to obeying their rules in education. This is the same problem that happens with public universities.
@DeAngelisCorey The fine print is the amount per student will be the funding equivalent of a $6 minimum wage. If this was $30k per student per year I would support. Bet it's closer to $6k. The proof is in the funding per student. If it's low, then we're just expanding work or die to our kids.
@DeAngelisCorey Will have to be an executive order. Force the vote in Congress to see who is for the children or for the teacher's union. Passes the Senate but not the House. Then the executive order. How quickly will this move?
@DeAngelisCorey Private schools will choose you, you won’t choose them. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.
@DeAngelisCorey I keep seeing this "will hurt public schools", not hurt students, but hurt schools.
