A lot of people throw away their career by choosing the wrong PI. Which doesn't mean necessarily their PI was a bad person, just not the right one.
Every PhD student should have 2 supervisors. You may think you don’t need a secondary sup as you enter your first year, but wait until you are half way through. If you don’t have one, ask for one, it’s your right @AcademicChatter
