If you think you're "too" empathetic: The moment I stopped feeling sorry for myself, I stopped feeling sorry for everyone else. This may seem unkind, at first. Remember though, that feeling sorry for others does them nor you any good. It only perpetuates the overall sorrow.
We either forget or don't know that, not even 200 years ago, the terms and categories used to describe you today didn't exist. The fact that you think you're black, white, hispanic, asian, or indian is a tool being used to cause separation between the whole. Rise above.
