Its 2020, let's stop rushing family, friends or just anyone to donate blood when in need. The right this is encourage one another to register with a blood bank, donate regularly and benefit continuous personal health follow up!! #CommonInterest

Deferral means existence of a medical condition in an individual rendering them ineligible to #Donate blood over defined period. It’s often due to these infections listed. For #HIV and #HepatitisB it’s often a permanent deferral. However thousands of people with this get missed

There is a need for technology to give lab science a helping hand in curbing #BloodTransfusionInfectionTransmissions. Blood tests negative to Hepatitis B, C, HIV, Syphilis, Malaria but the tech system notifies you “Ongoing Deferral”. Would you accept such transfusion? 🧐

The fear of #DonatingBlood 😒 My patient with severe anemia from giant fibroids. Told her husband with donor=15k and without donor=25k to hospital per bag. Man opted for second because he is scared. I agree with him 100%, but we need a system for sustainable voluntary donations

Our way to ensure prompt sustainable supply of safe #BloodTransfusions Lets challenge orthodoxies, invest on those who voluntarily donate, what we call social motivations. Afterall the deficit of #Voluntary blood donations has always been associated with lack of motivation

From our short survey it appears most of us still believe blood donation by a family member is best. Some of its disadvantages: -High rates of transfusion transmissible infections -Puts pressure on family member who may not be physically fit -Breaks anonymity of blood donation

I witnessed two throwing shade!! Eric: You are alive today bc of me x3 🤫 Jennifer: Did I not pay you? 🙄 I later found out Eric once donated blood for Jennifer after a complicated delivery. She did pay 40k to get him donate tho. Who is at fault here? How do we avoid such?
