A year of a violent conflict in #Sudan has had a staggering human cost, and is one of the most acute crises in the world with: • the largest displacement of people; • 1/3 of the population facing hunger; • the health system collapsing; • humanitarian access constrained; Darfur and Kordofan cut off from humanitarian aid. 40% of all Sudanese refugees are hosted in Chad, many of whom have severe conflict-related injuries and are suffering from malnutrition and mental health trauma, putting a further strain on an already weak and fragile health system. @WHO will continue to support the health of Sudanese people in-country and abroad. But time is running out to end their suffering. Today, I joined the Sudan International Humanitarian Conference in Paris. We welcome the €2 billion commitment to support the aid operation in Sudan. Ultimately, a ceasefire and unhindered humanitarian access are needed to prevent the dramatic worsening of the crisis in the months to come.
