The Tokyo Olympics started on the 23rd. DQ's "Lot's Theme" and other songs were selected as the entrance music for the athletes at the opening ceremony! I was more than happy that many people around the world were able to listen to this minor but wonderful piece of game music.
This year marks the 35th anniversary of the release of the first game in the series, DQ, a very popular computer RPG among the Japanese. There are 11 numbered titles in the series, and a 12th title has been announced for release this year. Many spin-offs have also been released.
