Where’s the outrage? Alberta’s fuel tax goes up by $.04 on April 1 to meet the planned $.13 target. But the $.03 carbon ‘tax’ that gives me back a rebate of more than I spend on it, is causing people to lose their $hit? cbc.ca/news/canada/ca…
@Duckett62 What’s the provincial sales tax in Alberta these days? 8% in Ontario.
@Duckett62 I would love to see copy of your rebate cheque.
@Duckett62 Taxes that make money while changing the weather. I give up.
@Duckett62 If it holds true, that people get back more than they put out then how is it possible that on the books the federal government has the carbon generating more profits even after returning the funds to the people?
@Duckett62 When you factor in that increased fuel costs raises just about everything else, like most products & services, including groceries, let alone HST is charged on it hence a tax on a tax. The majority are ending up well out of pocket. Try looking at the full picture!
@Duckett62 The carbon tax is on more than just fuel, hope that helps!
Canada is only responsible for 1.6% of Global GHG Emissions. The idea that taxing “carbon emissions fuel” could have an effect on a global issue that we’re only responsible for a sliver of is not only misguided, it’s irresponsible. It’s the analogous equivalent to Canada trying to empty a swimming pool with tablespoon while Eastern Europe, The Middle East, and Asia fill it with a firehose. It’s nothing more than fraud, racketeering, extortion, and conspiracy to commit all three masked as virtue.
