Hurricane 🌀Erin intensified rapidly to a category-5 storm north of Puerto Rico Saturday. Erin will track west of Bermuda ~Wednesday then NE'ward later this week where we will keep a close eye on possible effects in Atlantic Canada.
As we enter the core of hurricane season, activity is beginning to increase in the tropics. NOAA today updated their hurricane season outlook and are still predicting an active season in 2025. It’s time to prepare!
Tropical storm Dexter has formed near Bermuda and will track east northeastward over the next few days. Dexter is expected to remain well south of the Maritimes with no major impacts expected in Canada.
Tropical storm #Chantal has formed off the southeast coast of the US. Although no major impacts are expected in Canada, the remnants of Chantal could contribute to enhanced rainfall in parts of Atlantic Canada on Tuesday.
Tropical storm #Barry has formed in the Bay of Campeche becoming the second storm of the season. It remains weak however, and is not expected to have any impacts in Canada.
Andrea, the first Tropical Cyclone of the season has formed in the Atlantic. Andrea will remain south of our response zone and is expected to weaken tomorrow.
Today is the first day of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season and conditions are favourable for another active season this year. Although the majority of tropical cyclone activity occurs in August, September and October, it’s never too early to prepare. ow.ly/rROw50W253s
