Amazing: The big RIVYERA FPGA cluster is finally working on ECC2K-130! Half a gigabyte of distinguished points from a first half-speed test.
Working on the smaller clusters... One office cluster is up to 1.16 billion iterations/second, mainly from 32 GPUs running the new GPU code.
New hard drive works. Servers finally back online and collecting points again. Clients around the world catching up on the data transfer.
Clients are saving points locally while we work on server drive replacement. Latest drive from Western Digital is completely non-functional.
Finally the FPGA cluster has arrived! Will be interesting to test and see whether the interface code works. And then get ready for the blast
The graph at http://ecc-challenge.info/ shows the power of lots of GPUs. Currently running at 2*10^10 iterations per second!
We're now running 428 GPUs with 12840 cores! Not much competition for the GPU clusters; are we the only people who know how to program GPUs?
Servers back up since Thursday (trip to Antec). Had a lot of distinguished points lined up! (GPU-) cluster allocations starting to pay off.
Servers still down but finally got RMA number. Currently storing all distinguished points on clients. Will be quite a spike in the graphs!
The GPU code is now down to 1379 cycles per iteration: more than 54 million iterations/second on a GTX 295! Firing up the GPU armies now.
Success on the new GPU implementation strategy: GTX 295 is the new speed leader, 41 million iterations/second! Optimizations are continuing.
Another power outage, and now 7 power supplies in the central server cluster refuse to turn on. Under warranty; RMA requests in progress.
Received accounts on two big GPU clusters: 384 GPUs (11520 multiprocessors at 1.44GHz) plus 512 GPUs (15360 at 1.242GHz). This will be fun!
CPU simulation of the new GPU strategy, with the new memory layout, is computing distinguished points correctly. Next step: the real thing!
We now have a completely different GPU implementation strategy that promises huge speedups. Coding in progress. Watch here for new results!
Pulling out the cannon now: have filed an application for millions of CPU-hours on a cluster with tens of thousands of cores. Wish us luck!

One big client site was running at 1/3 load. Last week we started the next 1/3 of the CPUs and blew the UPS. Oops! Bigger UPS is on the way.
Faster software for AMD! 1050 cycles/iteration on the K8 (Athlon 64, old Opteron) and 595 cycles/iteration on the K10 (Phenom, new Opteron).
Checking 8192 randomly selected reports from the central server disks took a total of 20 hours on one CPU core. 8190 reports were correct.
