Watching John Healey on Laura Kuenssberg this morning, he twice made the claim that the government has been “charged with changing people’s lives for the better.” I’m 81 and have lived through many governments. I have never expected any of them to change my life for the better.
This news has spoiled my whole day. I dreamt of the day when I sat in the lounge of the Sunset Bliss Retirement Home and watched Angela Rayner and Penny Mordaunt knock lumps off each other at PMQs. Nigel Farage versus Ed Davey just doesn’t do it for me.
