We were lucky enough this week to have a visit from Bookbug. He brought along the local Librarian to hold a Bookbug session with the children and to deliver the Explorer bags to all our 3 year old's. The children enjoyed stories, songs, hi 5's and cuddles. @scottishbktrust
Wed 25 July marked our end of term celebration for our 2025 leavers, we marked this occasion by throwing a Stay & Play session for parents/carers. The children moving on to their next adventure will be missed by all staff and peers at Forfar ELC. We wish them all the very best.
As we approached the final few days of term for our DM1 children, we were focusing on creating our own patterns with different materials, sharing our thoughts and feelings linked to changes as well as exploring sounds, letters and familiar words such as our names.
During Easter Break the DM3 children had a visit from our local Police Officers following an interest in people who help us. They learnt the different roles the officers play within the community as well as learning about the uniform they have to wear and apparatus they use.
We have enjoyed following the life cycle of a Butterfly. The children had the opportunity to release these at our local community garden this week following them emerging from their chrysalis. All ten of our caterpillars successfully hatched.
The children have been exploring risky play opportunities both outdoors and at the local park, where they have been learning to manage and assess risk when jumping, climbing and playing at height.
Over the last few weeks, we have had fun exploring different Celebrations throughout the calendar year, focusing on Burns Night & Chinese New Year. The children were provided with various learning opportunities using crafts, food tasting & a visit to our local Tartan shop.
We have had the pleasure of welcoming Mrs Ramsay into the setting to provide the children with Kodaly sessions. These sessions focus on helping us develop musical skills and musical literacy through games, songs and activities. The children thoroughly enjoyed taking part. 🎵🎵
Great to see so many practitioners engaged in our Improving Health and Wellbeing in ELC in service training sessions today. Thanks to @carnoustieelcc and @ElccForfar for hosting. #AngusEY #EnablingEnvironments
The children have been caring for caterpillars in the nursery over the last few weeks and successfully released 8 beautiful butterflies into the garden this morning. We have a further 5 cocoons waiting to hatch. 🤞🐛🦋
More photos from our visit from one of our local police officers. The children enjoyed finding out about all the equipment the officers need and exploring inside the police van. @TaysidePolice @AngusCouncil
We had a visit from one of our local police officers yesterday. The children got to talk to the officer about her job, try on some equipment and have a look round the police van. @TaysidePolice @AngusCouncil
During World Book Day, the children in the Meadow engaged in storytelling activities in different ways - listening, choosing and interacting. Sharing experiences with their friends. 📚🖥️🥰
During World Book Day we explored stories in lots of different ways - building, re-enacting, being creative, using technologies. Some of the children dressed up as their favourite characters. 📚🐘🐻🐷🥰
Today we were celebrating World Book Day. There were lots of storytelling opportunities throughout the day and provocations were set up for children to engage in their favourite stories in different ways throughout the day. 📚🥰
The children were excited to share our food bank with Lowson Memorial Church this morning. Thank you to all who kindly donated. We wish all our families a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. We look forward to welcoming you all back in 2023!
Please see advice from Police Scotland below around the dangers of venturing onto frozen water. Stay safe and warm! rlss.org.uk/winter-water-s…
We had a visit from Bookbug today! The children were very excited to meet him, giving hi-5's, hand shakes and lots of cuddles. Sarah from Forfar Library led Bookbug sessions full of interactive songs, rhymes and stories which all children had the opportunity to take part in.
Our children had a great time this morning when they went for a walk to the loch and park. These experiences allow the children to explore their local environment and build an understanding of how to stay safe when out and about.
