It makes my stomach churn when I hear “community leaders” say they have over 25 years of experience leading in the community. I always ask myself, leading to what? More disparity? More decline in reading and math proficiency? More poverty? Leading to what?!

Ward 5 residents aren’t cost-burdened because the rent price is too high; instead, Northside family household income is stagnant and is far behind the City of Minneapolis average family income ($27,000 disparity). Income disparity is the problem, connecting jobs is the solution!

Why is there a fried chicken spot and a liquor store a half-mile apart in every community with a significant population of Black people … put your thinking caps on people. Not a coincidence; it’s by design. The Northside deserves more. Black people deserve more. #Ward5first

Regardless of the circumstance, Sha’Carri Richardson should be allowed to run. We continue to drop the ball on addressing the real issues, for many people coping with trauma marijuana has improved those lives significantly. We can do better! #LetHerRun

I have yet to hear any Minneapolis city council member suggest implementing a strategic plan to address the increase of gun violence impacting Black lives. Actually, I have yet to hear them say anything relating to gun violence and Black lives—what a shame.

How current leaders talk about violence prevention is sickening. If leaders are not actively working towards putting money in a bank account for young people, you will continue to see the violence grow. Any other approach is a joke and waste of time.

7 Years. Flint, MI has been without clean water for 7 years. The effects of the water crisis will be felt for generations. And the worst part of it all... Flint is not the only city with toxic water. It is one of the hundreds of cities across the country with bad water.
