Another day, another modern-day record: global sea surface temperatures are now up to 21.19°C. By comparison, the 2023 record was 21.09°C, held from August 22-26.
@EliotJacobson @EliotJacobson can you say how many standard deviations this is from baseline?
@EliotJacobson @EliotJacobson the associated additional energy this represents, and how it might interact with the atmosphere is unsettling. I'm curious how uncertainty bounds are computed on these values. Is there a DOI you could point me to?
@EliotJacobson This feels… surreal. We really don’t have long, do we? I’m supposed to attend a baby shower in June. As though none of this is happening. I’m supposed to celebrate but all I can think is why would you do this? Instead I weep for what this child will be born into.
@EliotJacobson Is seems more and more likely that some sort of runaway process is taking place… Have we finally pissed off Mother Nature? 😱😱😱
@EliotJacobson OGOTTOGOTT! 😱😱😡 Only climate scientists and environmental activists acquired the capacity to be outraged? ¿Sólo los cientistas climáticos y los activistas ambientales adquirieron la capacidad de indignarse?
