How long does it take Apivar for it to drop phoretic mites? 2 strips in a visibly mite damaged colony (w/w) and still shaking 9 mites/300 bees (3%) 3 weeks later. Amitraz resistance?
@ElmTreeBees Won’t touch those products. Tried and not impressed. This year I’ve forced all colonies into broodless state by caging queen for a month then vaped with OA. It’s been very effective and they used the broodless period to stock up on winter stores so no need to feed.
@ElmTreeBees Suggested in documentation NOT to expect immediate die off soon after application but I've seen a big dump of mites within a couple of days in a bad colony. What level at start? You're one brood cycle in. Suggested treatment is 3 brood cycles. Measure again after then?
@ElmTreeBees Ask Ulrike and give her my best. linkedin.com/in/ulrikemarsk…
@ElmTreeBees Too many variable to be sure. Wait until treatment time is up and measure.
@ElmTreeBees it should take less that four weeks for sure.
@ElmTreeBees I do not use sinthetic products anymore, just OA strips made by me, and OA drops in december. Until now, 2 mite on all apiary
@ElmTreeBees It kills something like 60ish percent of mites per cycle assuming it's working at max efficacy . Could have resistance on top of that
