Back in 2021/22 @objktcom had a chance to support the amazing pfp scene that was emerging on Tezos. Instead, they shunned it. Now, the hype is over, they’ve partnered up with one of their darlings, and they’re now promoting this garbage. Who’s making these decisions?

To those who need to hear this. Stop tagging pieces on @objktcom as “Illustration” when they are clearly made by AI. You are fooling no one.
If you mint art on @objktcom that is AI generated, please tag it as AI.

@kikanicolela Half of the stuff in the Tezos Takes Miami exhibition on Objkt is AI generated. Smh. I clicked on one that was illustrated and the artist had never created or collected on Tezos before. Why not give these opportunities to people on Tezos who’ve been making actual art for years?
Tezos artists categorised: 1.) The @Jimllpaintit clones 2.) The guys doing rainy particles 3.) The b&w iPhone photographers 4.) The A.I garbage spewers Who have I missed?
Sorry Tezos, it feels dodgy to me that people who work at @objktcom, who can easily influence how much visibility individual artists get, can then sell those artists’ works for huge fees on secondary.
It’s crazy to me how so many of the quirky, well respected Tezos art guys all produce work that looks like Facebook posts from 2000s-era Jim’ll Paint It. (No shade on Jim’ll Paint It, that guys is a true OG)
@kikanicolela @_TransparentArt IMO the promo posts from Tezos & Objkt, plus the tweets from prominent employees of both, often highlight the same list of their favourite artists. An “in crowd”. Which is worryingly reminiscent of the “We have to talk about Misan” situation from a while back. King-makers = bad.
More and more, the Tezos art scene feels like it is being gate-kept by the TF/Objkt-employed community curators/influencers who are clearly perpetuating a bag-pumping circle jerk for them and their in-crowd favourites. It’s starting to smell centralized to me.
