Here's another tip for performing M&E in a way that will actually make improvement happen over time: Put a single person in charge of implementing each action item. To give M&E arms and legs and real value, it needs to be followed all the way through to implementation.

Does your organisation use M&E? Distill your reports and findings into something that is ONLY 1-3 recommendations or action steps long. If it is longer, in 9 out of 10 cases the things won't get done. It's too much to work into already-full calendars and task lists and schedules.

The real trick of M&E: Painting change with all that data you just collected. This week we'll chat about a few of the ways you or your organisation can do this most effectively. And no, it doesn't have to involve spreadsheets. #dataforgood #impactevaluation

Continuing from Monday -- what is the goal of M&E? It's looking for this link. It's trying to understand the connection between two vital concepts in development (and, really, any type of change-based effort.) Just wait for the much-anticipated reveal on Friday... :)

Having an evaluation conducted could be scary. It feels like being scrutinised and seems like it could jeopardise a project if the evaluation produces negative feedback. But in reality, evaluation creates significant positive outcomes for development work... Stay tuned.
