One of the first publications about sexualized violence during fieldwork was written by a Swedish anthropologist. She published her account in 1995 under the pseudonym “Eva Moreno”. Interestingly, using a pseudonym had initially not been her choice. 🧵(1/6)
In March, I published a book chapter about my experiences of violence during fieldwork. This was one of the hardest things I did in my academic career and it took me years to find the right place for the text and the courage to do this. (1/4)

This week we held a two-day workshop focusing on gendered safety during #fieldwork for researchers @CRC228. Our aim was to expand the participants' awareness and propose simple tools to reflect upon gendered risks and safety in a systematic way #anthrotwitter
In May 2021, we started our project as an informal group of researchers who organized a workshop on fieldwork safety for students. Now we are in the process of formalizing our initiative. We are planning a website, a position paper, and more workshops. Stay tuned!
