The kick needs space to breathe. Pro-C2 sidechain on bass with fast attack & 120 ms release (2–3 dB GR). Trackspacer on 60–120 Hz makes bass duck only where the kick hits. Clean, controlled low end.

Subtle harmonics make the kick bigger. HG-2 adds analog weight. Decapitator for punch if needed. Saturn 2 in low band (20–150 Hz) with Tape adds definition. 10–20% mix = power without distortion.

Glue without crushing. SSL G-Bus or API 2500 with slow attack, fast release. 1–2 dB gain reduction adds punch while keeping transients alive. The kick stays consistent across the mix.

Headroom first: trim −10 dB, never clip the sampler. Cut below 25 Hz to clear sub rumble. Surgical −2 dB around 250–300 Hz to remove mud. You can also use a dynamic EQ to control the attack so that it is more stable. Result: a tight, clean foundation.
