It's with a heavy heart today that we're announcing the discontinuation of our award-winning iPhone keyboard for blind users. Apple has thrown us obstacle after obstacle for years while we try to provide an app to improve people's lives, and we can no longer endure their abuse.
Last week, we submitted an update that fixes various iOS 15-related issues & improves the app for VoiceOver users. No new features, just improvements. No changes to our App Store page either. We were very excited to get this out the door and to the hands of our users!
@FlickType @keleftheriou this is awful news man. If you ever want some freelance iOS work or need me to find you a startup that's looking, let me know.
@FlickType Feels like Apple is planning to bring some features which are availble in your keyboard.
@FlickType @stroughtonsmith @Apple, you guys are dropping the ball man.. how the handicapped gonna be able to take advantage of such a unique app???
@FlickType If you or your team at FlickType want to continue distributing your iOS app through @altstoreio, feel free to reach out to us for any help you may need to accommodate your app / users.
@FlickType @tim_cook will you feature this, in your next apple-styleheartwarming-tearjerker-ios-feature-video, how you help the world with devs?
@FlickType Certain congresspersons are always on the lookout for ammunition to use against Apple and other big tech co’s. Can’t remember who, offhand, but they might be interested in hearing your story..
@FlickType This is terrible. My iPhone will pretty much become useless to me without flick type keyboard. Is the app available on android?
@FlickType Every time I see a post exposing Apple and their bad practices we find tons of "supporters" trying to justify them. I am not sure what drives them to defend a company so blindly. Maybe for them Apple become something to own and worship due to the lack of personal achievements
@FlickType This's exactly why the Open App Markets Act should be passed. We should all reach out to our senators and reps and urge them to pass the bill. It's time to end Apple & Google's monopoly on their app stores.
@FlickType @TheQuinbox A public "thank you" for carrying on for so long and for providing VoiceOver users with an innovative typing experience that many liked! Thanks again!
@FlickType Unfortunately @Apple has long demonstrated that developers are practically third class citizens, and as good as some of their tools are - it certainly feels like in some cases it's more and more unpleasant to work in this ecosystem.
@FlickType shout out to Apple for not allowing key-loggers on my device.
@FlickType Have you posted about this on the @AppleVis website? If not, I'd highly encourage you to do so, as they’d be able to help you advocate.
@FlickType What will happen now is that they'll steal your idea and market it as their own when the dust settles down. My condolences. Apple is a terrible company.
@FlickType What a coincidence that Apple released their own Keyboard today.
@FlickType Wow. This is so sad. :( I've used this for years. I hope someday they'll improve things. Sorry you've had to endure so much abuse, and best of luck in future.
@FlickType Apple's been hostile to it's developers since the inception of the Mac... I'm not at all surprised. So sorry to hear this though.
@FlickType @Perpetualmaniac That's so sad & just plain wrong!
