Will never understand high school coaches who pressure their athletes to do captains practices and bizarre fitness components during the club soccer calendar. Apparently they want burnt out athletes who come into the season with high risk of injury.

All while likely having zero clue of what these programs actually look like. I ask families how many college games they’ve gone and watched… typical answer is ZERO. Several lower division program that actually perform at a higher level than these D1-D2 teams.

One of the 'Achilles heels' for coaches that I have observed, is coaches obsession with racing through qualifications. Spending more time learning the theory of coaching without adequate time on the pitch will hinder your progress. To be a coach, you need to coach.
