It's true: trade isn't fair. 28 million people in forced labor worldwide keeps production prices artificially low. Tariffs won't help, but targeted anti-forced labor enforcement will.
42% of trafficking victims intercepted in 2022 were destined for forced labor, but only 17% of trafficking prosecutions were brought in labor-related cases. There is no fair trade without ending labor exploitation.
