My idea for a dynamic competitive map pool in Siege X would be to have a ladder system where the maps would change once per year (after Six Invitational) The most and least played map of the previous competitive year would be moved to inactive, then the next 2 maps on that ladder would move in. In the picture example I had it as Theme/Oregon coming in, Clubhouse/Skyscraper going out. Club/Sky would then join the bottom of the "ladder" of the inactive map pool, awaiting their turn to return in. This would keep things dynamic (2 map changes per year) whilst maintaining stability that it would only happen post SI thus protecting competitive integrity. It would allow Ubisoft to experiment with maps and whether they're good enough to be in comp, because if they're not they won't be played and would be removed after 1 year. It would also somewhat allow non-SI teams to get a head start and be practicing the maps that are upcoming that they know are joining the pool, giving them a reason to train harder/get better in the off season. Those teams getting better creates a better product too. Not a perfect solution but I do think it would be better than what we currently have, which is intermittent (almost random) map pool changes with limited visibility or transparency on how/why those decisions were made.
@FreshOnDesk Theme park and villa should never have been removed. 2 of the best comp maps we had the pool, theme park required a lot of strategy and better attacking teams would always win. Villa was like a club/border - default map, classic plays. Loved them both
@FreshOnDesk Interesting dynamic, however the main issue for me today is a 9 map pool. Almost* impossible for a team to have (not even being good) all 9 maps. Would be perfect if it were a 7 map pool and maps changing once a year as your example.
@FreshOnDesk I think you’d have to go down to a 7 map pool if this were the case
@FreshOnDesk Thoughts on 7 maps in the pool with the same 2 map rotation?
@FreshOnDesk Add Emerald Plains. Jazz it up. It's a really fun map. Plays a little like Coastline but better. What are you having for lunch?
@FreshOnDesk Even though its a brainless map watching coastline in pro league was so so fun so id add that instead of oregon and id keep club tbh its good to have a default map
@FreshOnDesk Would rather love to see some lower tiered events (Perhaps events like Seasonal Series) to introduce new maps, so it can be seen how comp-ready those maps are. I think TO's are already allowed to use a different map-pool but most don't want to switch, which is a shame...
@FreshOnDesk if you put fortress and villa, you can put emerald in the map pool. for me lot of maps need some ajustments like : remove or change some verticalitys , hatches, windows...
@FreshOnDesk once per year is too slow for a system like this imo
@FreshOnDesk Coming back to 7 maps on the competitive scene again would be the best decision for sure. It would make all matches much more competitive.
@FreshOnDesk Deffiently a good take - Ingeneral I think there should also be map changes / balances - a lot of the maps such as even kanal could be comp ready with simple adjustments - same goes for emerald / fortress etc Also - bring Oregon back man…
@FreshOnDesk Cool mechanic, is been more tha a year since the last pool change. But unfortunately i dont think we have competitive maps outside the current pool. Villa? Need a few changes Park? Also need a few changes Emerald plains? Is a big map, maybe on sky placement.
@FreshOnDesk Bro oregon NEEDS to be back in pl it was entertaining
@FreshOnDesk Just run this as a separate event and let the players influence the map pool with what maps they're willing to or want to play
@FreshOnDesk I understand why having predetermined maps entering into the pool would be optimal, giving teams a chance to practice, but I can't help but thing some type of international T1 voting system might produce more interesting map pools.
@FreshOnDesk theme and villa should be in the pool already and don’t u dare ever put fortress up with these maps again
@FreshOnDesk @VelocityyyR6S I like it but the idea of playing coast and villa in map pool frightens me wyt?
