Like Elite, Frontier had a number of different versions. #FrontierElite2 was made for PC, Commodore Amiga and Atari ST, whereas #FrontierFirstEncounters only ever came out on PC. A number of different languages here, on disk and CD. The box art for US FFE was by far the best.

It's been a while, but here's the FrontierAstro Elite games collection. Plenty of different versions in there, plus some re-issues etc. The rarest would have to be the MSX and Tatung Einstein editions, plus the Acornsoft BBC Master release.

I'm not too familiar with the #ZXSpectrum retro scene, but I did come across this item recently: a cartridge version of #Elite together with an interface to connect it to the computer and even a tiny game box to store it in 😎

Fancy playing the original BBC Elite in 3D? Over at universeodon.com/@markmoxon there is work in progress to achieve just that! All you need is an inexpensive pair of 3D (red/blue) glasses. Can't wait to see how this turns out 🙂

Two years elapsed between the release of #BBCElite in 1984 and the #BBCMaster version in 1986. The latter featured faster graphics, no loading delays and more colours but was essentially the same game. (BBC Master Elite picture obtained through @MarkMoxon's Elite Universe Editor)

Possibly the most important item in the original #BBCElite box - for newcomers to the game - was the control summary. By pausing the game during the heat of battle, the player could locate the key necessary to unleash a vital piece of weaponry!

I'm back after my summer break from most social media, website management etc. In the meantime I've been playing a *lot* of the brilliant but buggy #StarCitizen plus #EliteDangerousOdyssey #F122Game and, of course, #FFED3D. Refreshed and good to go. Right on Commander!

Tucked away on the BBC Elite disc was a rolling demonstration program. This was perfect for a shop display and probably enticed many people into buying the game. youtu.be/yOJp78kQJPM via @YouTube
