Amusingly, swapping the two included 40mm InterTech whatever fans with three Noctua NF-A4x20 FLX fans decreased power consumption by about a watt. (~19 -> ~18W at the wall) Mostly prep for when I throw a 10GbE NIC in here but the lower noise is very welcome too 😁

Wouldn't be a complete NAS of mine without copious amounts of zip-ties. But the 8x 4TB PM983 SSDs are finally not overheating even under consistent full read/write loads.

*puts on tinfoil hat* I wonder if @YouTube constantly defaulting to 720p as of late is intentional bandwidth saving since not everyone will notice... Probably just a bug though, in which case already reported via the feedback form. (could be a classic Firefox issue too though)

Gotta love random forms on websites just erroring out (server-side because the browser is sending over malformed requests with missing fields) in Firefox but working fine everywhere else. Slow and half-broken with memory leaks.

Its kind of amusing (and maybe a bit sad?) how AliExpress is more reliable with VAT handling and customs clearance/import than eBay. (despite them both technically being required to handle it, but eBay just doesn't try at all)

Just wasted like an hour debugging why lancache doesn't work - DNS, port forwarding, docker networking, everything. Turns out the prepackaged lancache-monolithic app in the TrueNAS app catalog is just broken and doesn't work. Custom app worked instantly - Yay... I guess!?

My patience with Radeon is running out by the day. Thought I'd be able to make it until 5080 Super launch with this 9070 XT but I think I will grab a 5060 Ti 16GB rather soon at this rate. Incredible how utterly broken the encoder stack is.
