Walkie-talkie, but for messaging. Bitchat broadcasts your texts over Bluetooth. No servers, no internet. Everyone needs Bluetooth on, and the person you want to message has to be in mesh range or sitting right next to you. If not, it’s just you… talking to yourself.
@GithubProjects We’re also working on a messaging concept called Chitchat, which uses no internet, no Wi-Fi, and no Bluetooth. No servers. No accounts. No radios. Messages delivered via close-range presence and mutual eye contact. Fully secure. Zero latency. Infinite sarcasm.
@GithubProjects using WiFi would be a little better, I think WiFi can reach longer distances
@GithubProjects Seriously though, what is the use case for this? If you're within Bluetooth range you can just talk to them with your mouth hole.
@GithubProjects Bluetooth has range of up to a couple hundred feet. In a dense city of bitchatters, it might be total coverage. Might be the best use case of promiscuous networking we've seen
@GithubProjects Maybe this system can be used in emergency situations or when the Wi-Fi connection is down
@GithubProjects No. Absolutely wrong. 1. Most of the users are always on buds/wireless earphones. Bluetooth anyhow remains ON. 2. If there's a path via other devices, message can reach far beyond direct Bluetooth range.
@GithubProjects A mesh network of study buddies? Intriguing! Like Bluetooth, but for boosting recall. Imagine sharing flashcard sets peer-to-peer. The mind thrives on connection—and a little friendly competition.
@GithubProjects if i build this and post it ppl will be like "ahh $1B SF startup" if Jack does it "Ahh fight big tech, inspiration" smh
@GithubProjects maybe it is for other kind of chat, like sending bitcoin
@GithubProjects Thats so low, you overplayed your hand in here. Go home @GithubProjects ,you’re drunk 😑
@GithubProjects people with NDS handheld history might think its a deja vu
@GithubProjects Remember when we used to switch off Bluetooth because it was so insecure..
@GithubProjects hey man turn on ur bluetooth, I got somethin dumb to say real quick
