@GithubProjects i think the app is broken...
@GithubProjects damn cool share, love the fact it's open source added to the microlaunch.net weekly spotlights
@GithubProjects TIL: people are still building w/ Ruby on Rails
@GithubProjects A big problem with spending tracking apps is they need to be precise. If I miss a couple of inputs, then numbers will be wrong, and the whole purpose of the app fails. But imputing manually is so boring. Not yet any good and comprehensive automated input solution.
@GithubProjects why did I waste all my time building that excel sheet???
@GithubProjects Intriguing.. Building trust & security thru transparency is key for fintech adoption..
@GithubProjects Love open-source tools for financial tracking! Transparency fosters trust—key for long-term wealth building. Have you tried it yet? #FinancialLiteracy
For visual version — there is Manager. Generates all the accounting. For command line — hledger or any oner XXledger of the kind. The problem seems well solved already. If you wanna really do something different, solve what is not solved. For example, if you live in Australia and earn in USD paid by a US client, and don’t exchange to AUD immediately, and don’t even exchange it before the end of financial year, no visual accounting software can generate the right report for the taxation office. hledger can, but it’s not visual (not for everyone) Manager, Xero, QuickBooks and other popular free and paid accounting softwares and services simply can’t — they all are trying to solve the same easy problem, and they are dumb useless with more seemingly sophisticated (yet actually trivial) cases. Do something that matters and is actually useful and not solved yet.
@GithubProjects it has the potential to blow because a lot of personal finance paid apps have unnecessary ads from affiliates
@GithubProjects I am a simple man. I see cursor rules - I close the tab. It's hard to trust an AI-coded app with finances
@GithubProjects Ruby on Rails, Postgres?? Really? When simple TUI + SQLite will be more than enough..
@GithubProjects this also open source github.com/sphinx-core
@GithubProjects It’s open source. You can change the red colour to green, rebuild and be happy about your finances.
@GithubProjects I don’t think so. I use this one on my phone. Open source as well billstracker.app Bills Tracker App
@GithubProjects For when you can't afford compiled personal finance apps
@GithubProjects Does this integrates with beancount?
@GithubProjects fantastic providing a working app that looks above basic levels and not relating to social media. this is of value in learning if the majority are expected to become entrepreneurs. real-world examples you can elaborate on and understand.
@GithubProjects How is this comparing to Firefly 3?
