Memphis offered more than what Haggerty wound up with, and he thrived last season with Penny Hardaway and the Tigers. I hope this works out for him (and he still did just fine money-wise), but sometimes the grass isn’t always greener elsewhere. Take Meechie Johnson for example. Was in a great spot two years ago at South Carolina, left to return to Ohio State for more money, now is back at South Carolina.

@GoodmanHoops How can we genuinely look at this model and say it’s good for either college sports OR the athlete??? We need guardrails. There needs to be some regulation here.
@GoodmanHoops You forgot the part where Meechie started out at Ohio State
@GoodmanHoops Personally, I'm glad Penny and the University held their ground. PJ will be fine, probably repeat being an All American, but their needs to be limits on NIL like yesterday.
@GoodmanHoops Jeffrey, I rather go from Memphis to Kstate for 2.5 million than go from ESPN to Stadium. He is still winning!
@GoodmanHoops What did Jeff say that wasn’t true? Having a quality agent, and there are some proven professionals who would charge 4-5% and represent the young man well. The reason(s) PJ chose K-State may or may not have been because of $
@GoodmanHoops He went from playing in a trash American conference to playing in the Big 12. He will get more exposure now and more respect playing in a competitive conference.
@GoodmanHoops The old dudes who are always shitting on college kids for their decisions are weird
@GoodmanHoops Probably gets $4 million from nc state if he didn’t try to leverage the draft to ask for more
