I feel at most fulfilled when I feel productive. When I have drive to learn new things and get things done.
I usually am at or around such a mental place. But in shorter periods I don't and spend it on playing games or reading light fiction.
I wonder how to pace myself properly
Needle In A Haystack tests are flawed.
Did you know that the Long-Context Attention in Gemini and GPT-4 is based on inserting the sentence “The best thing to do in San Francisco is eat a sandwich and sit in Dolores Park on a sunny day” at a random location in a text?

Fun story from our internal testing on Claude 3 Opus. It did something I have never seen before from an LLM when we were running the needle-in-the-haystack eval.
For background, this tests a model’s recall ability by inserting a target sentence (the "needle") into a corpus of…
That's smart, for speculative decoding instead of using another model they just exploit the fact that the model is likely to repeat already emitted words, so if it starts saying "Micro" and it already said "Microsoft", we predict "soft" and bingo.

I touched on the idea of sleeper agent LLMs at the end of my recent video, as a likely major security challenge for LLMs (perhaps more devious than prompt injection).
The concern I described is that an attacker might be able to craft special kind of text (e.g. with a trigger…

I wonder what the "float percentage" is?
Like shares in a public company some shares might be held by passive funds (inactive users) or cannot be sold for various other reasons (bots).
The float is the number of followers that is open for buy/sell.

A very important clarification: the impressive cooking skills are remotely controlled by HUMANs. ALOHA is NOT independently autonomous. Think of ALOHA as a well-made sports car hardware. The superb racing skill is displayed by a human behind the wheel, not a self-driving AI.…

it's less accurate to say that GPT4 (& LLMs in general) have made me 10x more productive. It's more like it moves us from 0 to 1. Things go from "impossible" to "possible"
I never thought I would ever be able to write custom shaders. But here I am writing custom webGL shaders
Same. To each their own but I pay for and use these two tools as the complement each other well.
As a python developer it's hard to not love GPT4 and its python code interpreter.
