#CRCsynod Lament for the church. Lament for all who will leave. Lament for those who can’t leave, especially the queer kids who will grow up in a denomination where LGBTQ+ exclusion is entrenched. Lord have mercy!
Making the choice, as an adult, to live a life of singleness and celibacy is a faithful and holy choice for someone to make, for any reason. Being told as an adolescent that you have to make that choice or go to hell? Not the same. #crcsynod
Tonight is a hard night for me. Reading tweets from friends online following the actions of #CRCSynod regarding the Human Sexuality Report (HSR). The actions taken are hard on the entire LGBTQ+ community...but especially hard for me. (1/5)
So heartening to see the many who gathered at #CRCSynod to witness to inclusion, welcome, and love as the delegates debate the Human Sexuality Report.
LGBTQ+ Pride is not the opposite of humility, but rather the opposite of shame. We are rejecting the lies that have told us we don’t belong, that we are somehow abnormal or sick or sinful. We are refusing to live in shame any longer.

I come from churches where gay people were called evil and abominations, but about a decade ago things started to shift for me. Last Sunday, I shared some of my journey of becoming fully affirming of LGBTQ+ folks. I am not affirming in spite of Scripture, but because of it.
