If you’ve got a road that’s taking all the traffic because it’s so much better than the alternatives, the one thing you absolutely _must_not_do_ is make that road wider. If you do, you’re making your problem worse – because the motorway’s advantage becomes even greater.

The road isn’t just congested. It's stuffed. Most roads have two peaks of traffic – morning and evening. The SWQ doesn’t. The traffic starts at about 6am and goes constantly until about 6pm. And because it’s stuffed, when things go wrong there's no way to fix it.

The Tay Tay Express from Olympic Park ran smoothly last night. I think people were around later than they budgeted for, still big crowds as it got close to last train just before 1am. Here's trains to Central, the westbound platform was just as busy. Spot the Blink 182 fans.

Last November I had the great privilege to meet Barry Humphries CBE AO for our naming ceremony of River class Ferry “Margaret Ollie”. We did joke that one of the next batch of Sydney ferries should be named “Dame Edna”!

Railways and Royalty have always had strong connections. The passing of the Queen marks an end of an era of the multitude trips. I have had the honour and privilege to meet the Queen four times in my career. The rail family,I am sure, expresses our condolences for the sad loss.
