"Surgical smoothing (SS)," pioneered by Dr. Eugene Litvak of the IHO, seeks to eliminate this pattern by dispersing elective procedures evenly across the week. Currently, most procedures are performed early in the week to accommodate surgeons' scheduling preferences. (4/6)
