The zippy 3XO’s fuel consumption is hovering around 7.7l/100km. For context, the VW T-Cross TSI’s 1.0l with direct-injection will average about 6.4l/100km. That said, Mahindra only offers their less sophisticated, but arguably more stout port-injected 1.2l Turbo in SA.

Porsche is getting ready to launch the updated 911 GT3 RS, with several updates that include different side air intakes, new headlights, new rear bumper and other bits. Kerb weight should be about 1 500kg, with peak power at around 390kW.
Spent the day in a partly cloudy Western Cape, sampling the new MG MG3 midsize hatch. Two models in different trims are on offer, including a 155kW, 425Nm Hybrid. Prices start from R269 900 to R469 900. MG was established in Britain in 1924, and is now owned by Chinese firm SAIC.

The reigning SA Car of the Year, BMW's X3 in 20d guise (2.0-litre turbo diesel, 145kW, 400Nm, R1.1 million), serves as a reminder that BMW is not done with us yet. In July 2025, BMW exported 6 300 X3 units to different countries from its Rosslyn, Tshwane manufacturing base.
