Race After Technology by @ruha9 is really the book of the moment, combining radically important insights technology, racial justice, and surveillance. If you run a tech company, you should be buying this book for employees. If you work in tech you need to read it.
I just finished reading @ruha9's new book, Race After Technology, and immediately had to return it because the US Senate Library has a waiting list for it! I had to wait my turn to check the book out as well. This is a rarity for any particular policy or academic book here.

I am trying to think straight about interaction techniques in #HCI. I know the wonderful chapter by @ken_hinckley and Daniel Wigdor entitled "Input technologies and techniques". Any other recommendations on papers that can give an overview?
At one point the developers stress the design as a way of minimizing anthropomorphism, at another they worry about "stressing" the robot with their questions. We need to stop pushing the idea that robots can be empathic partners. Perhaps we begin with responsible journalism?!
