Trump is ‘saying the quiet bit out loud’. We all know the US’s longstanding role in undermining the self-determination of the Palestinian people, but never has it so directly, so brazenly, been articulated. Any country that wishes to be taking seriously on intl law must condemn.

As long as the UK continues to allow arms exports to continue to Israel, this is the line we are likely to hear. It's political common sense: Starmer isn’t about to implicate his own government by acknowledging that the State it supports, Israel, is committing a genocide.
