#HurricaneErin has been downgraded to a Category 3 Major Hurricane. Sustained winds of 127mph
#HurricaneErin has been upgraded to a category 4 Major Hurricane. Looks like Erin went through the eye wall replacement cycle. Sustained winds are 132mph at the moment. Evacuations are underway in NC along the coast. FOLLOW EVACUATION ORDERS! Could mean life or death!!
Peak hurricane season is upon us. Everyone on the east coast needs to be ready. Even those in the heart of Appalachia. We learned the importance of hurricane prep last year as Helene showed us that the threat from hurricanes extends well beyond the coasts. #wxtwitter

In case you're wondering what EXTREME rapid intensification looks like (55 mph/13 hours), behold. Erin is a maelstrom of meteorological mayhem as it puts on a pageant of power and elegance. It has rapidly intensified at three time the rate needed to qualify.
#Erin has been upgraded to a Category 5 #Hurricane . Wind speeds of 160 mph!
#Erin went through RAPID intensification overnight. Hurricane hunters measured maximum sustained winds of 130mph with higher gusts. This means Erin is now a Category 4 hurricane. #HurricaneErin
#Erin has strengthened to a category 2 hurricane with winds ~95mph. Hurricane Erin is still projected to strengthen to a Major Hurricane this weekend. Looking at a Category 4 at peak strength. Path is still up in the air, but looks to stay a fish storm. Stay tuned for updates!
