Rarely tweet as a fan, but if reports are true that Everton are the seventh English club to join the #EuropeanSuperLeague then I’ll be delighted. If you can’t beat them, join them. Imagine those big nights at Bramley-Moore Dock against Barcelona & Real Madrid. Great move. #EFC

Agree with every word of this: 140+ years of heritage at the mercy of owners who never give interviews; never put themselves up for scrutiny. No-one but them wants a closed-shop European Super League

Inescapable that the European Super League will be blamed on Americans. Pushed largely by American club owners, funded by an American bank, based on American sports business concepts. (Just remember, the vast majority of European ⚽️ fans in the US don't like the idea.)

Board member at one of English clubs joining Super League: "This isn't a civil war, it's a nuclear war. To be honest though the owners are not that worried about bad PR, they were expecting it. Their job is to maximise profits. The wider good of the game is a secondary concern"
