In before the socialist/environmentalist types accuse me of wanting to trash the planet - I fucking love earth, I fucking love the natural beauty of life, I want to create knowledge and build technology so that we have the power to preserve it. Technology is the only way out.
@JsonBasedman OK, I built a few things. They are used by millions, power many other things. And I say: we need to consume less. Claim technology is sufficient is naive solutionnisme. Social norms modulate society even more. Also, you're sharing violent imaging with rude phrasing.
@JsonBasedman ”Increase the pie” instead of restricting the pieces… Completely different mindsets.
@JsonBasedman David Deutsch is what got me into the build train
@JsonBasedman @CJHandmer Or we could do/build more with less.
@JsonBasedman This is a false dichotomy. Consuming less and building more are two sides of the same coin. It’s what you get when you invest income instead of spending it. Not everyone has the opportunity or skill to build, but all can support someone more capable by saving instead of spending.
@JsonBasedman technology often fixes the problems technology creates. plastic literally revolutionized the world, and is a very useful material. our unsustainable consumption of it has also created a lot of problems. we need to build, but we need do it sustainably.
@JsonBasedman This post caught me soo offguard that I actually started laughing! Building tech is definitely a way to solve and contain some of the problems we have with the environment.
@JsonBasedman @pmarca Funny and true. That is how I feel after a long day at work, building the future of mental health mindxsciences.com
@JsonBasedman Has anyone seen @protosphinx and Batman at the same time?
@JsonBasedman Periodic reminder that “we all” = “everyone other than me”
@JsonBasedman Efficiency is good, but you’ve got to have something
