Question for legal experts: When armed teachers are *employees* of a school system who are granted permission to have guns inside their workplace by their employer, are their actions covered by the same laws as armed civilians in public spaces? Is the school/employer legally responsible for an employee’s actions with this permitted firearm during the workday?
@K12ssdb It's really weird some of the comments on this post. Its almost like they didn't read what you said. Its a very good question and thought provoking.
@K12ssdb Is Simon Malls legally responsible for having a no weapons policy if someone comes in and shoots another person on their property?
@K12ssdb Private citizens are held legally responsible for all actions taken with their firearms. Public entitites cannot be held liable for individuals voluntarily exercising a constitutionality protected right. It’s not mandated by the employer.
@K12ssdb If you have to ask those questions you should just stop commenting on firearms laws at all. Yes, they have to follow all of the same laws as everyone else. Yes, the school district could be civilly liable should a teach harm someone in an unjustified or accidental manner.
@K12ssdb You hate that this might have an effect of deterrence.
