@MPIainDS TY for your amazing help. Thanks to you the Pet Theft Taskforce was created by the Government back in 2021. Their report led to the original Pet Abduction Bill. Keeping everything crossed that Royal Assent is achieved in the time left for this Parliamentary session 🐾❤️🐾

The current trends for designer features in dogs and cats result in lifelong suffering to these animals. 📢We want the Govt to work with the sector to introduce a public information campaign to raise awareness around welfare issues & harms of so called ‘designer’ pets. 7/8
It’s estimated that less than half of the puppies entering the market are from licensed breeders. 📢We're calling for a reduction in the litter licensing threshold, and a public list of all licenced sellers to help to counter low welfare breeding practices. 5/8
🐕We also want the Govt to ensure: ▪️ A ban on the importation of puppies and kittens under six months ▪️ A limit on the number of dogs and cats that can be imported by an individual into the UK from five per person to five per vehicle, and three per foot or air passenger 6/8
The import & sale of declawed cats & dogs with cropped ears or docked tails is currently not prohibited. We want the Govt to: ▪️close the loophole that enables the importation of mutilated animals ▪️legislate to restrict the possession, sale & supply of DIY ear cropping kits 4/8
We want the Govt to introduce a new Veterinary Surgeons Act to update that of 1966. This should include the regulation of canine fertility clinics. 💷We also want the fine for illegally performing acts of veterinary surgery to be increased from its current maximum of £100. 3/8

For 9 months, Gabby didn't walk her dog, Rogue. A Romanian rescue puppy, Rogue faced trauma and anxiety from a combination of lockdown, adolescents and 2 dog attacks. Today, Rogue is growing in confidence, a testament to Gabby's love, efforts and 9 months of #dontwalkyourdogday
