@SgtMajFrench Same principle as the RN 'Sale before the Mast' of the deceased's kit. Individual items, i.e. one sock, often sold for ridiculous prices, then put back in by the buyer to be sold again. Attended one at Collingwood that ran from noon until 16:00.

Jack Sadler was killed in Sangin in 2007. He once made me a brew on a hill in sideways rain. We laughed. The HAC held an auction to raise money for a scholarship fund in Jack’s name so I bought a box of his kit. In it was a name tag that still travels with me. #RemembranceDay

RIP my old pal Mikhail Gorbachev. I was lucky enough to meet Mikhail at a roller disco in Arbroath in 1964. He was wearing a pair of denim shorts that caused a rubbernecking divorcee to banjo herself against a pillar and I kept a keen eye on his career ever since.

I am ex British army officer who works as a teacher in an inner city school in Montgomery, Al. Today I spent 4hrs on the floor in a dark locked room with my students while the local police searched the school for a loaded gun bought in by a student. They found it We are all OK.
