A4: Non example: Reading texts that the students cannot relate to. Having books that only reflect ones own culture. Not educating yourself (as an educator) on other cultural's. Believing stereotypes.

A2 My school is currently in the process of transitioning into a Dual Language school so this is a question we discuss often. The classroom reflects the students culture, interests, goals, knowledge, etc. Our libraries are rich in culture and diversity. #champforkids

A3: Daily: Be sincere. Shout outs for behavior and work. Take pictures of students modeling these behaviors & post to class website. Create anchor charts and put students names next to their comments / ideas to make them feel special. Give table point's #2pencilchat

A2: we do mock-elections in our classroom at the end of the year and the students LOVE being elected for an award that pertains to their personality too. #2pencilchat

A2: oh yeah - Super powerful. When students are recognized at an awards ceremony (student of the month or all A/B Honor Roll), I think it extremely motivating and rewarding for the kids. It's hard work that is celebrated over a long period of time. #2pencilchat

A1: I think awards come in all shapes/sizes. Some kids view verbal praise as an award..others think awards come from the treasure box. I think it's important to know our students and their interests and when they give their best give them the award they would want #2pencilchat
